- Stock #[removed phone] - Great Sailing Cutter, Well-Equipped-Built in South Africa-Looking for A Quick Sale!Coquette is a 44-foot Van de Stadt cutter, for sale by motivated seller. The Van de Stadt pedigree is obvious in this sturdy vessel (google "Van de Stadt" to read about Van de Stadt). She has no deck coring, so deck rot is not a worry like so many other vessels of her age. Instead, the shipyard used fiberglass stringers in the solid fiberglass hull and deck. A long fin keel and spade rudder make her a great sailor upwind or down wind. She has safely sailed across the ocean from S. Africa and has circumnavigated the Caribbean several times. She's also been a comfortable liveaboard and local cruiser.Ericus Gerhardus van de Stadt ([removed phone]) was one of the pioneers of modern yacht design. In 1933, he and his wife Lies started a boatyard at Zaandam, where they lived aboard a houseboat, designing and building canoes and dinghies. They developed a successful business despite the set back of World War II, and not overcoming their starting losses until 1950.Among many innovations in yacht designs: the wing section fin keel and balanced spade rudder combination, the first very fast plywood yachts, the world's first series production GRP yacht, and the world's first maxi - "Stormvogel".Although he participated in the development of the IOR rule, he later resigned from the International Technical Committee in protest over the US dominance in offshore racing rules as well as his feeling that the rule was fostering a less than seaworthy type of yacht. Please submit any and ALL offers - your offer may be accepted!
